Born in the flat countryside of Holland, Joeri started cycling at a young age. During high school he cycled to school and back every day (also when it was raining and freezing cold ). And when he came in contact with cycling and mountain biking at age 19, he was sold. In the following 7 seasons Joeri trained and competed as a racing cyclist in Europe to become a professional cyclist.  

Racing as a professional never happened, so Joeri went to work in a marketing & communication function. However, he missed the travel, the social aspects and the variety of cycling in his job. A combination with the bicycle and people was what he was looking for. That is how he ended up at Austin Adventures, where he will be working as a tour guide from 2018 onwards. Joeri lives with his family in Culemborg, a medieval trading town in the river/delta area of Holland. In addition to the travel leadership, Joeri works as a functional & graphic designer.
