Luxury Kenya Safari
Explore the remote Kenyan bush in pure luxury. As we fly from camp to camp, we gain a broader understanding of this vast country and its diverse wildlife. Visiting private reserves, in addition to the National Parks, allows us to take to the bush on foot getting a closer look at the flora and fauna. After days filled with game drives, walking safaris and horseback rides retire to hand-selected boutique lodges and camps where some of the best service and atmosphere in East Africa awaits you. On arrival in Nairobi rest from your travels in the leafy suburbs of Karen and in the Chyulu Hills venture into the private reserve based from Ol Donyo Wuas. Heading north to Laikipia, search for the unique species of Northern Kenya including gerenuk, Oryx, Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe while based from the luxurious Borana Lodge. In the Maasai Mara we find ourselves at the remote Rekero Camp set at the confluence of the Talek and Mara Rivers in close proximity to excellent game viewing. Whether sleeping under thatch, stone or canvas these nine nights are sure to be some of the most memorable you'll experience.
DAY 1 : ARRIVAL IN KENYA Arrive into Nairobi and rest after a long flight in the beautiful suburb of Karen at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden & Cottages. Each of the 11 cottages have high beamed ceilings, fireplaces, and stone floors and come complete with satellite TV. We can arrange dinner reservations at the charming Talisman Restaurant in nearby Karen at your request. Overnight at the Karen Blixen Cottages. [meals on own]
DAYS 2-4 : CHYULU HILLS This morning we fly south from Nairobi to the stunning Chyulu Hills and Ol Donyo Wuas. Each cottage features rich hardwood floors, hand-crafted stone walls and thatched roofs. The bathrooms are equipped with hot and cold running water, as well as flushing toilets. Enjoy family style meals in the dining room, complete with excellent wines in the evenings and lively conversations with the camp hosts. Activities in the area include game drives in open land rovers, walking with Maasai guides and horseback riding.
This area serves as a migration corridor for game moving between Amboseli and Tsavo and is habitat for elephant, buffalo, eland as well as specialist species such as gerenuk, oryx, and lesser kudu. Predators are present including lion, leopard and cheetah, and this area is home to one of the last Kenyan populations of black rhino.
